Hot Tub Cover

Hello – I am thinking of purchasing a hot tub. Is there a law in Maryland which would require me to have a fence, like a pool does? Or if the cover locks would that be good enough?

My parents have had hot tubs in the past at 2 different houses, but both times they were on a deck without steps to the back yard. So the only way to get to it was through the house. My house does not have a fence and it would be on my back patio.

This could make up my mind if I want to get one or now!
