Hot Tub Covers – Make Fun Safe And Easy

Today hot tub buyers face many difficult choices regarding almost every part of the hot tub itself, not even mentioning all the additional hot tub components. One of the hardest times for people who think about getting a hot tub, is when the question what kind of hot tub cover to buy arises. Hot tub covers are very important in many aspects.

First, let’s address the safety concerns that hot tub owners face every day. A hot tub full of water can be equally dangerous to children and adults alike. We all have read sad stories about small kids and pools in the backyard. A hot tub is no different. The water depth in the hot tub in most cases in sufficient for a child to drown.

Adults under the influence of drugs and alcohol are equally helpless to the dangers that deep water poses. Accidents happen all over the United States. It is ease to ignore all the warnings, being comfortable enough around your own hot tub, but as the saying goes, you never know what might happen.

Another topic is heating costs. Since it takes some time for the hot tub heating system hot warm up the water so that it is ready for use, you can bet that it does not come cheaply. Of course, you can unquestionably save a lot of money if you get a hot tub cover. As we all know, heat rises upwards, so a carefully chosen hot tub cover will trap the heat ascending from the water and keep it inside the hot tub. That means that the hot tub heater will not have to turn on so frequently to keep the water temperature constant.

A hot tub cover will also keep all the unnecessary objects out, whatever they might be – falling tree leaves, dirt, various bugs or kids’ toys. This will in turn require less frequent water cleaning procedures. Again, it saves time and money.

I’m needing a cheap hot tub. Can anyone help me???

It needs to be under $2000 or so. I’ve been looking through hot tubs and reviews myself, but I need it quick and I figured this might be just as quick. Please, this is for a family member and his birthday is only a few days away. Or if you have an idea of just where to find reviews for hot tubs, that would help!! It has to be at least 5×5.

Cast Iron Soaking Tubs Are Pure Bathing Luxury

For many of us, cast iron soaking tubs are a holdover to Victorian Era luxury. The first enameled cast iron tubs were developed in 1883. Developing the process that allowed enamel to adhere to the cast iron was a big step toward the tubs acceptance. Prior to that, tubs were mainly made from wood or sheet metal.

Cast iron tubs are made in several different configurations. Probably most familiar, especially to those of a certain age, are claw foot tubs. This is a tub that has a leg at each corner. The part of the leg that contacts the floor looks like a clawed foot clutching a ball. It’s fairly common for this type of tub to have a rolled rim. Some of them will also have what’s referred to as a slipper back. This makes it easier to slightly recline in the tub.

The most contemporary models still tend to be a rectangular type of shape. Even though cast iron is molded, much like an acrylic or fiberglass tub, you rarely see any other type of shape. These tubs are only available as soakers. That means that you can’t find them in with air or water jets or with a whirlpool. This is probably due to how hard it would be to mold the holes for the jets or how hard it would be to cut them after the tub is molded.

The enamel that covers cast iron tubs has been one of the things that has made them popular. The enameling process creates a surface that is very low maintenance. It’s also a material that doesn’t scratch, dent, or crack easily. If it does become scratched or damaged, it’s relatively easy to repair. Another attractive quality to cast iron is that it retains heat well. This helps keep the bath water hot. Their low maintenance is also a real plus. The most basic way to clean the tub is a little soap on a rag.

Cast iron tubs do have some disadvantages when compared to other types of tub materials. The first and foremost is that they’re extremely heavy. They typically weigh 350-400lbs. In comparison, an acrylic tub of similar size will weigh 80-100 lbs. Because of their weight, it’s important to know how much weight the floor where you’re going to place the tub can handle. The size of your water heater may be a factor as well. A typical 30 or 40 gallon water heater may not be big enough for a large tub.

After weighing the pros and cons of cast iron soaking tubs, you may find that one of them is your best choice.

Follow up to hottub issue and $622 electric bill?

For those of you that have responded to the on-going hottub issue. Here is the next chapter to this stupid on-going saga. If you are a landlord, please give me your opinion. Below is the letter I’m sending my landlord tomorrow. This has been going on since Novemeber (more or less)

Thank you,

Hello– I have not received a response from you yet concerning the certified letter you signed for on Feb 28, 2009.

As of today March 15, 2009, Steve’s hot tub is still on. As before, I can hear the pump/motor turning on and off automatically and operating. The length of time the motors run seems to be reduced; however the hot tub is still operating.

I’ve spoken with a lawyer concerning these issues as I am extremely frustrated due to your lack of action and/or concern over the unusually high electric bills, the expenses I have unknowingly incurred due to his hot tub since January 2008 and the additional expenses due to his guests/girlfriend when I was living alone.

I’m sorry it has come to this but this letter is to inform you that I will not be paying any rent or electric bills until:

1. The hot tub is turned off and drained until such time an in-line meter can be installed and methods are put in place to calculate the actual electrical costs of the hot tub and the cost of the water consumption.

2. An agreement is reached by all parties involved concerning the division of the utility bills. (As I stated in the letter (dated Feb 25, 2009) your solution, to the problem of Steve refusing to pay for his guests, turning off the hot tub and discussing the bills, of charging me a flat rate for rent and utilities is not acceptable.)

I will continue to pay one-half of the gas, water, and waste bills upon receipt of the actual bill. However, I will make the payments directly to the respective utility company. I also request to be reimbursed the $108.00 I sent you to cover the utilities for March.

As of now, I will not communicate with Steve concerning any aspect of the bills as this is the responsibly of the landlord. Please have him leave the gas and waste bills under my doormat and let him know that I will make my half of the payment directly to the respective company.

Concerning the current electric bill that Steve received last week: I will make no payment toward that bill until the hot tub is turned off completely and drained. When the hot tub is disabled, I will only make a payment of one-half of what last year’s bill was minus $1.65 a day for what I estimate the operating cost for his hot tub to be (when it is in good-operating condition.)

If you are unwilling to satisfy my requests, I will be moving as soon as I can find an acceptable place to move to.

Please respond in writing, via certified letter, within 14 days for receipt of this letter.

Thank you,
This current bill is in Steve’s name but the landlady transfeered the bills to her name. So if Steve doens’t pay this bill it will only impact his credit as the bills have been in his name for the last 14 months.

I’ll check into the escrow account issue.
OK – I read the info about the escrow account. I will remove the “not pay the rent” but will keep the “not pay the electric bill” as that is the main issue.
